The Science Behind Your Lip Care

Behind the Balm: The Science-Inspired Approach to Our Lip Care

At Amatorus Chapstick, we believe that thoughtful formulation leads to better lip care. While many products make claims, we're committed to a process that starts with understanding. This commitment led us to explore our unique Amatorus formulation through dedicated laboratory research.

What Does "In Vitro Research" Mean?

You might hear terms like "in vitro study" in relation to product formulations. Simply put, "in vitro" means "in glass" or "in the lab". These studies are conducted in controlled laboratory environments, often using cell cultures or, in our case, a specialized synthetic skin model called VITRO-SKIN®. This type of research allows scientists to observe how a formulation behaves under specific, simulated conditions outside of a living organism. It's an important step in the scientific exploration of cosmetic ingredients and formulations.

Our Formulation's Journey: The Simulated Kissing Model

The in vitro study on our Amatorus formulation utilized this VITRO-SKIN® to mimic the application of a lip balm. A unique aspect of this research was the use of a "simulated kissing process". This was a carefully designed laboratory procedure to observe how the formulation interacted with the synthetic skin surfaces under conditions that simulated contact.

The study looked at different scenarios, such as applying the Amatorus formulation to a synthetic skin surface where HSV-1 (the virus associated with cold sores) was present, and also applying it to a fresh synthetic surface before contact. The goal was to gather data on the formulation's properties in these specific in vitro contexts.

What This Means for Your ACF Chapstick:

It's crucial to understand that in vitro research is not the same as human clinical trials. The findings from our lab study on the Amatorus formulation do not mean that Amatorus Chapstick can prevent, treat, or cure HSV-1 or cold sores in people. Our product is a cosmetic, designed to improve the appearance and comfort of your lips.

However, this scientific exploration inspires our product. It informs our approach to creating a lip balm that:

  • Provides a smooth, conditioning feel.
  • Helps to create a moisturizing barrier on the lips.
  • Is delivered with a unique rollerball applicator for even coverage.

We are proud of the rigorous thought and scientific consideration that goes into our ACF formulation. It’s part of our commitment to providing you with high-quality cosmetic lip care that you can trust for everyday comfort and to help your lips look and feel their best.

Disclaimer: Amatorus Chapstick is a cosmetic product. The laboratory study mentioned was conducted in vitro on our formulation and does not imply human clinical efficacy or that the product can diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
